The Department of Applied Sciences and Humanities at Akido College of Engineering teaches and promotes practical aspects of Basic Sciences and Humanities subjects to build a solid foundation of the Engineering Education. The department prepares students for core engineering branches by educating them in the basics of physics, chemistry, mathematics, environmental science and communication skills in the first year of B. Tech. (All Branches) course. “Fundamental of Management” and “Engineering Economics” are two Humanities subjects that strengthen the management and economic sense and ethics of the students. Environmental studies make the students stewards of the environment that sustains us, our families and communities at present time and in the future.
Mathematics is indispensable for the engineering community. Students use mathematics to understand and solve engineering problems.
Physics is crucial to the understanding of the world around us. Physics encompasses the study of the universe from the largest galaxies to the smallest subatomic particles. Physics is the basis of many engineering courses.
Like Physics, many engineering subjects depend on chemistry. Branch-specific curriculum has been designed for each branch of engineering.
Department is well equipped with state of the art laboratories, in which theoretical knowledge is verified by experimental exercises. The main laboratories of the department are Physics Laboratory, Chemistry Laboratory and Language Laboratory.
The Language Laboratory is an integral part of the department. Students receive training in written and verbal communication essential to succeed in the workplace.
Department has qualified, experienced and dedicated faculty members who take a keen interest in solving the problems of students in theory as well as practical sessions.
