This department build foundation for engineering knowledge and skills in the respective disciplines. This department is a combination of Applied Physics, Applied Mathematics, Applied Chemistry, English and Environment Science. The department has a dedicated faculty with rich and varied experience. The department plays a vital role in grooming the students in their basic knowledge of science and language.
The history of science is marked by a chain of advances in technology and knowledge that have always complemented each other. Technological innovations bring about new discoveries and are bred by other discoveries, which inspire new possibilities and approaches to longstanding science issues. Famous laws of motion & gravitation which are implemented in engineering, have their roots in physics only. Applied Physics is the study of the basic laws of nature and their application to modern technologies.
This program is designed to give students a broad background in physics while at the same time relating this background to applications used in technology-based industries including optical science, microelectronics, computer-based laboratory instrumentation and astronomy /astrophysics. One can say that physics forms abase of the building called engineering. During first semester the students learn Interference, Diffraction, Polarization, LASER, Fiber Optics, Dielectrics, Special Theory Of Relativity, Superconductivity. During second semester the students learn Crystal Structure, Quantum Physics, Nano-Science, Free Electron Theory, Band Theory of Solids, Photoconductivity & Photovoltaic, Magnetic Properties of Solids.
Mathematics is the science that draws necessary conclusions. Engineering mathematics is a branch of applied mathematics that concerns itself with mathematical methods and techniques that are typically used in engineering and industry. Along with fields like engineering physics and engineering geology (both of which may belong in the wider category engineering science), engineering mathematics is an interdisciplinary subject motivated by engineers1 needs both for practical, theoretical and other considerations out with their specialization, and to deal with constraints to be effective in their work.
Historically, engineering mathematics consisted mostly of applied analysis, most notably: differential equations; real and complex analysis (including vector and tensor analysis); approximation theory (broadly construed, to include asymptotic, variation, and perturbative methods, representations, numerical analysis); Fourier analysis; potential theory; as well as linear algebra and applied probability, outside of analysis. These areas of mathematics were intimately tied to the development of Newtonian physics, and the mathematical physics of that period. This history left a legacy as well: until the early 20th century subjects such as classical mechanics were often taught in applied mathematics departments at American universities, and fluid mechanics may still be taught in (applied) mathematics as well as engineering departments.
The success of modern numerical computer methods and software has led to the emergence of computational mathematics, computational science, and computational engineering (the last two are sometimes lumped together and abbreviated as CS&E), which occasionally use high-performance computing for the simulation of phenomena and the solution of problems in the sciences and engineering. These are often considered interdisciplinary fields, but are also of interest to engineering mathematics. Specialized branches include engineering optimization and engineering statistics.
The use of knowledge and understanding of mathematics in engineering context. Mathematics is science of pattern that engineers seek out whether found in numbers, space, science, computers, imaginary abstractions, or elsewhere.
Mechanical Engineering Workshop
The Engineering Workshops is a section of the Mechanical Engineering department at Akido college of engineering. In collaboration with the other departments, its prime purpose is to provide facilities for the engineering undergraduates to perform the academic activities. The Engineering Workshops has close relationships with the other departments of the engineering and especially with the Department of Mechanical Engineering through which the academic activities are conducted. On the other hand, machine tools and equipment’s of the Engineering Workshop are also used to carry out the tasks of the maintenance, specially welding shop, and carpentry shop and lathe machines.
SECTIONS/ SHOPS OF WORKSHOP
The Engineering Workshops itself is a collection of six different subsections that are interrelated. Brief descriptions about them are given below.
The Welding shop is the shop comprised of the equipments to deploy the services as – Arc welding, Oxyacetylene welding, Drilling.
Sheet Metal Shop
The metal sheet Shop mostly comprised machines (hydraulic press bending machine, vibro sharing machine, Captain saw, Spot welding unit etc.) and some manual machine (rolling Machine, slotting machine etc). The study of machines kept in this shop is conveyed to the students in their respective classes scheduled by MED for becoming a good engineers in their future ahead.
Machine shop comprised of lathe machines, it provides tapering, facing, knurling etc operations to the students both in academic and non-academic terms.
Carpentry shop is comprised of carpenter and helper the carpentry Shop enclosed with the following machine tools: Circular saw, Universal belt sender, Bench Drill, Mortiser, Saw and plier, Thickness planer and Wood planer etc.
Foundary Shop is comprised with a heating furnace, moulding sands and patterns used for making castings of different materials.
Forging shop Comprised with anvil used to deform the material shape with the application of high force after being heated.
DEPARTMENT OF MANAGEMENT
The management department offered at the college imparts a global outlook, equips the student with specialized skills and develops attitude that leads to excellence. We seek to provide our students with a unique inspirational transformation which will enable them to become reputed professionals in their chosen area of expertise. Our efforts always tend to make students good to best by importing quality education and effective communication skills.
Management department at Akido College applies humanities engineering discipline and research method to solve management and leadership problem.
- SUBJECT OFFERED :
- Fundamental of management: In this subject student studies the basics of management like management functions, principles, inventory management, human resource management and financial management.
- Economics for Engineers: In this subject student studies the meaning of economics, law of economics, law of demand & supply, market structure, aspects of production and cost, and some elementary concept of VAT, WTO, GATT &TRIPS agreement and nature of Indian economy.
The world is changing with the challenges facing us on a global level there is a new need for companies and organizations to integrate technical &business skills to solve these difficult problems . And skilled engineers who understand the essential principles of business and law have a tremendous competitive advantage. Students in B.Tech programme will understand the Technology involved in engineering project and the management process through which the technology is applied. Student gain valuable knowledge in area such as organizational behavior, Macro and micro environment and economic law.
After the study of management and Economics, students can forcast or can predict the utility, advantage &disadvantage of the product and also get to know the scope of the product to its contribution in growth. To be successful in changing economy managers must understands the forces shaping the firm direction, policies and goals. We enable students to build management competencies and abilities which are sharpened by:
